Percy Bysshe Shelley

(Wikipedia)

To Night
A la Noche
English
Español

Swiftly walk over the western wave,
¡Rápidamente camína sobre la ola del oeste,
Spirit of Night!
Espíritu de la Noche!
Out of the misty eastern cave
Fuera de la nebulosa cueva del este
Where, all the long and lone daylight,
Thou wovest dreams of joy and fear,
Tu tejes sueños de gozo y temor,
Which make thee terrible and dear, -
Los cuales te hacen terrible y estimado,-
Swift be thy flight!
¡Veloz sea tu vuelo!

Wrap thy form in a mantle grey,
¡Envuelve tu forma en un manto gris,
Star-inwrought!
Estrella-enforjada!
Blind with thine hair the eyes of Day,
Kiss her until she be wearied out,
Bésala hasta que esté cansada
Then wander o'er city, and sea, and land,
Touching all with thine opiate wand -
Tocando todo con tu opiada varita mágica
Come, long-sought!
¡Ven, tanto tiempo buscada!

When I arose and saw the dawn,
Cuando me levanté y ví el amanecer,
I sighed for thee;
Suspiré por tí;
When light rode high, and the dew was gone,
And noon lay heavy on flower and tree,
And the weary Day turned to his rest,
Lingering like an unloved guest,
Rezagándose como un invitado no querido
I sighed for thee.
Yo suspiré por tí.

Thy brother Death came, and cried
Tu hermana muerte vino, y lloró,
`Wouldst thou me?'
¿Será para mi?
Thy sweet child Sleep, the filmy-eyed,
Murmured like a noontide bee
Murmuró como abeja de mediodía
`Shall I nestle near thy side?
¿Anidaré cerca de tu lado?
Wouldst thou me?' -And I replied
¿Será para mi?-Y yo respondí
`No, not thee!'
“¡No, no tu!”

Death will come when thou art dead,
La muerte vendrá cuando tu estés muerta,
Soon, too soon -
Pronto, muy pronto
Sleep will come when thou art fled;
El sueño vendrá cuando hallas huído;
Of neither would I ask the boon
 De ningúno pediría la bendición
I ask of thee, beloved Night -
Le pido por tí, amada noche-
Swift be thine approaching flight,
Veloz se aproxíma tu vuelo,
Come soon, soon!
¡Ven pronto, pronto!

Ozymandias.
Ozymandias.
English.
Español.

I met a traveller from an antique land,
Who said--"Two vast and trunkless legs of stone
Quien dijo: “Dos enormes piedras sin tronco
Stand in the desert....Near them, on the sand,
Half sunk a shattered visage lies, whose frown,
Medio enterrado un rostro destruído yace, cuyo entrecejo
And wrinkled lip, and sneer of cold command,
Tell that its sculptor well those passions read
Which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things,
The hand that mocked them, and the heart that fed;
La mano que se burló de ellos, y el corazón que alimentó;
And on the pedestal, these words appear:
Y en el pedestal, aparecen éstas palabras:
My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings,
Mi nombre es Ozymandias, Rey de reyes,
Look on my Works, ye Mighty, and despair!
¡Mira mis obras, el Poder, y desesperación!
Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
Nada al lado queda. Ronda la decadencia
Of that colossal Wreck, boundless and bare
De esa colosal ruina, ilimitada y desnuda
The lone and level sands stretch far away."

Ode To The West Wind.
Oda Al Viento del Oeste.
English.
Español.

                           I
                                           I
O wild West Wind, thou breath of Autumn's being,
Thou, from whose unseen presence the leaves dead
Are driven, like ghosts from an enchanter fleeing,

Yellow, and black, and pale, and hectic red,
Amarillo, y negro, y palido, y frenético rojo,
Pestilence-stricken multitudes: 0 thou,
Multitudes condenadas por la peste: Oh tu
Who chariotest to their dark wintry bed
Quien a su obscure lecho invernal

The wingèd seeds, where they lie cold and low,
Each like a corpse within its grave, until
Thine azure sister of the Spring shall blow
Tu hermana azul de primaveta soplará

Her clarion o'er the dreaming earth, and fill
(Driving sweet buds like flocks to feed in air
With living hues and odours plain and hill:
Con matices y fragancias vivas planicies y Colinas:

Wild Spirit, which art moving everywhere;
Espiritu salvaje, cuyo arte se mueve donde quiera;
Destroyer and Preserver; hear, O hear!
Destructor y preservador; ¡oye, oye!

                           II
                                              II
Thou on whose stream, 'mid the steep sky's commotion,
Loose clouds like Earth's decaying leaves are shed,
Shook from the tangled boughs of Heaven and Ocean,

Angels of rain and lightning: there are spread
Angeles de lluvia y trueno: estan expandidos
On the blue surface of thine airy surge,
Like the bright hair uplifted from the head

Of some fierce Maenad, even from the dim verge
Of the horizon to the zenith's height,
The locks of the approaching storm. Thou dirge

Of the dying year, to which this closing night
Will be the dome of a vast sepulchre
Sera el domo de un vasto sepulcro
Vaulted with all thy congregated might
Abovedado con todo tu poder congregado

Of vapours, from whose solid atmosphere
De vapores, desde cuya sólida atmosfera
Black rain, and fire, and hail will burst: O hear!
Lluvia negra, y fuego, y granizo estallarán: ¡Oh oye!

                          III
                                            III
Thou who didst waken from his summer dreams
The blue Mediterranean, where he lay,
El azul mediterraneo, donde él yació,
Lulled by the coil of his crystalline streams,

Beside a pumice isle in Baiae's bay,
And saw in sleep old palaces and towers
Y vió en sueños viejos palacios y torres
Quivering within the wave's intenser day,

All overgrown with azure moss and flowers
Todo cubierto con musgo azul y flores
So sweet, the sense faints picturing them! Thou
For whose path the Atlantic's level powers

Cleave themselves into chasms, while far below
The sea-blooms and the oozy woods which wear
The sapless foliage of the ocean, know
El estéril follaje del oceano, conoce

Thy voice, and suddenly grow grey with fear,
And tremble and despoil themselves: O ear!

                           IV
                                            IV
If I were a dead leaf thou mightest bear;
Si yo fuera una hoja muerta tú un majestuoso oso;
If I were a swift cloud to fly with thee;
Si yo fuese una nube veloz para volar contigo;
A wave to pant beneath thy power, and share

The impulse of thy strength, only less free
Than thou, O Uncontrollable! If even
Que tú ¡Oh incontrolable! Si aún
I were as in my boyhood, and could be

The comrade of thy wanderings over Heaven,
As then, when to outstrip thy skiey speed
Como entonces, cuando superar tu elevada rapidéz
Scarce seemed a vision; I would ne'er have striven
Apenas parecía una visión; Yo hubiera querido nunca luchar

As thus with thee in prayer in my sore need.
Oh! lift me as a wave, a leaf, a cloud!
¡Oh!
I fall upon the thorns of life! I bleed!
¡Cáigo sobre las espinas de la vida! ¡Sángro!

A heavy weight of hours has chained and bowed
One too like thee: tameless, and swift, and proud.

                            V
                                              V
Make me thy lyre, even as the forest is:
Has me tu lira, aún como el bosque es:
What if my leaves are falling like its own!
¡Qué si mis hojas caen como ellas mismas!
The tumult of thy mighty harmonies
El tumúlto de tu poderosa armonía

Will take from both a deep, autumnal tone,
Tomará de ambos un profúndo, tono otoñal,
Sweet though in sadness. Be thou, Spirit fierce,
Dulce aunque sin tristeza. Sé tú, espíritu feróz,
My spirit! Be thou me, impetuous one!
¡Mi espiritu! ¡Se tú mío, impetuóso!

Drive my dead thoughts over the universe
Conduce mis pensamientos muertos sobre el universo
Like withered leaves to quicken a new birth!
¡Como hojas marchitas apresurando un nuevo nacimiento!
And, by the incantation of this verse,
Y, por el encantamiento de éste verso,

Scatter, as from an unextinguished hearth
Dispersa, como de un inextinguido fuego
Ashes and sparks, my words among mankind!
Be through my lips to unawakened Earth

The trumpet of a prophesy! O wind,
¡La trompeta de una profecía! O Viento,
If winter comes, can Spring be far behind?

To A Skylark.
A Una Alondra.
English.
Español.

Hail to thee, blithe Spirit!
¡Salve a tí, Espíritu alegre!
Bird thou never wert -
Ave tú nunca fuiste-
That from Heaven or near it
Pourest thy full heart
Vierte tu corazón completo
In profuse strains of unpremeditated art.
En abundate veta de inpremeditado arte.

Higher still and higher
Mas arriba aún y más alto
From the earth thou springest,
Desde la tierra tu brotar
Like a cloud of fire;
Como una nube de fuego;
The blue deep thou wingest,
El azul profundo tu volar,
And singing still dost soar, and soaring ever singest.
Y cantando aún elevas, y elevando siempre cantas.

In the golden lightning
En el relámpago dorado
Of the sunken sun,
Del sol hundido,
O'er which clouds are bright'ning,
Sobre cuyas nubes son brillantes,
Thou dost float and run,
Tú flotas y corres,
Like an unbodied joy whose race is just begun.

The pale purple even
El pálido púrpura aún
Melts around thy flight;
Se derrite alrededor de tu vuelo;
Like a star of Heaven,
Como estrella del cielo,
In the broad daylight
En la plena luz del día
Thou art unseen, but yet I hear thy shrill delight -
Tú eres invisible, más aún escúcho tu agúdo gozo-

Keen as are the arrows
Afiladas son tus flechas
Of that silver sphere
De esa esfera plateada
Whose intense lamp narrows
Cuya intensa lámpara reduce
In the white dawn clear,
En el blanco claro amanecer
Until we hardly see, we feel that it is there.

All the earth and air
Toda la tierra y cielo
With thy voice is loud,
Con tu voz es fuerte,
As, when night is bare,
Como, cuando la noche es desnuda,
From one lonely cloud
Desde una solitaria nube
The moon rains out her beams, and Heaven is overflowed.

What thou art we know not;
Lo que eres no sabemos;
What is most like thee?
¿Que es lo más parecido a tí?
From rainbow clouds there flow not
Desde nubes de arcoiris allí no fluyen
Drops so bright to see,
Gotas tan brillantes para ver,
As from thy presence showers a rain of melody: -

Like a Poet hidden
Como un poeta escondido
In the light of thought,
En la luz del pensamiento
Singing hymns unbidden,
Cantando himnos inespontáneos,
Till the world is wrought
Hasta que el mundo es forjado
To sympathy with hopes and fears it heeded not:
Para compasión con esperanzas y temores que no prestan atención:

Like a high-born maiden
Como virgen de alta alcurnia
In a palace-tower,
En la torre de un palacio,
Soothing her love-laden
Tranquilizando su de amor-cargada
Soul in secret hour
Alma en hora secreta
With music sweet as love, which overflows her bower:
Con música dulce como el amor, cual rebosa su enrramada:

Like a glow-worm golden
Como una luciérnaga dorada
In a dell of dew,
En una cañada de rocío,
Scattering unbeholden
Esparciendo incontemplable
Its aërial hue
Su matiz aereo
Among the flowers and grass which screen it from the view:
Entre flores y césped los cuales se proyectan desde el panorama:

Like a rose embowered
Como rosa rodeada
In its own green leaves,
De sus propias hojas verdes,
By warm winds deflowered,
Por vientos cálidos deflorada
Till the scent it gives
Hasta que el aroma se dá
Makes faint with too much sweet these heavy-wingéd thieves:
Hace débiles con demasiado dulce esos alados ladrones:

Sound of vernal showers
Sonidos de chubascos primaverales
On the twinkling grass,
En el centelleante césped,
Rain-awakened flowers -
Lluvia-despertadas flores-
All that ever was
Todo lo que alguna vez fué
Joyous and clear and fresh - thy music doth surpass.
Jubilóso y claro y fresco-Tu música supera.

Teach us, Sprite or Bird,
Enséñanos, Espíritu o Ave,
What sweet thoughts are thine:
Que dulces pensamientos son tuyos:
I have never heard
Nunca he oído
Praise of love or wine
Alabanzas de amor o vino
That panted forth a flood of rapture so divine.

Chorus hymeneal,
Coro de canción matrimonial
Or triumphal chant,
O cánto triunfal,
Matched with thine would be all
Emparejado contigo sería todo
but an empty vaunt -
Excepto un alarde vacío-
A thing wherein we feel there is some hidden want.

What objects are the fountains
¿Qué objetos son las fuentes
Of thy happy strain?
De tu felíz esfuerzo?
What fields, or waves, or mountains?
¿Que campos, u olas, o montañas?
What shapes of sky or plain?
¿Qué formas de cielo o planícies?
What love of thine own kind? what ignorance of pain?
¿Qué amor de tu propia especie? ¿Qué ignorancia de dolor?

With thy clear keen joyance
Con tu claro y entusiasta gozo
Languor cannot be:
Languidéz no puede ser:
Shadow of annoyance
Sombra de moléstia
Never came near thee:
Nunca se acercó a tí:
Thou lovest, but ne'er knew love's sad satiety.

Waking or asleep,
Despierto o dormido,
Thou of death must deem
Tú para la muerte debes considerar
Things more true and deep
Cosas más verdaderas y profúndas
Than we mortals dream,
Que nosotros los mortales soñamos,
Or how could thy notes flow in such a crystal stream?
¿O cómo podrían fluír tus notas de tal flujo de cristal?

We look before and after,
Buscamos antes y después,
And pine for what is not:
Y languidéce por lo que no és:
Our sincerest laughter
Nuestra más sincera risa
With some pain is fraught;
Con un poco de dolor está tensa;
Our sweetest songs are those that tell of saddest thought.

Yet, if we could scorn
Sin embargo, si pudieramos despreciar
Hate and pride and fear,
Odio y orgullo y temor,
If we were things born
Si fueramos cosas nacidas
Not to shed a tear,
No derramó una lágrima,
I know not how thy joy we ever should come near.
No se tanto tu alegría siempre deberíamos venir cerca

Better than all measures
Mejor que todas las medidas
Of delightful sound,
De delicioso sonido,
Better than all treasures
Mejor que todos los tesoros
That in books are found,
Que en los libros se encuentran,
Thy skill to poet were, thou scorner of the ground!

Teach me half the gladness
Enseñame la mitad de la alegría
That thy brain must know;
Que tu cerebro debe conocer;
Such harmonious madness
Tal locura armoniosa
From my lips would flow,
De mis labios fluiría,
The world should listen then, as I am listening now.
